Help the orchard

As a community orchard we rely on volunteers – we do not have any paid staff.  So we really appreciate all the help we can get – your involvement is what keeps this project going.
if you would like to get involved there are many opportunities for supporting the orchard, having fun, learning more and improving your skills along the way.
You can:
Help to organise and run events and activities, working with other volunteers on site and in local venues.
Help with the administration of the Project.
Get involved with practical, on-site gardening. Not just the trees – the site supports a wide range of plants, shrubs and grasses as well.
Contribute any skills you may have – we can make good use of specialisms such as art, basketry, pruning and grafting, storytelling, marketing or computer skills.
Why not turn up to one of our regular maintenance mornings and see what goes on?
Maintenance Mornings are usually held twice a month, on the 2nd Sunday of the month and the 4th Thursday. Sessions run from 11am – 1pm on Sunday and from 10am – 12 on Thursdays.  Drop us an email or check the noticeboard by the orchard gate for updates on these dates and times. Maintenance sessions are when we look after the trees and check what needs to be done. For each season we will check the health of the trees, attend to any pests and diseases, and make the orchard look as beautiful as possible. It’s vital work to keep the orchard going and we rely on our volunteers to look after these trees, so we really appreciate the help. You don’t have to stay for the whole session, just come along when you can. All tools are provided. Supervised children are welcome but please note we have no toilet/hand washing etc facilities on site or nearby.
