Volunteering

Volunteer sessions are held in the orchard on the second Sunday of each month between 11am and 1pm and the fourth Thursday of each month between 10 am and 12 noon. There’s no need to book, and all tools will be provided. You don’t have to come for the whole session. Please wear sensible, outdoor clothing, and bring gloves if you have them.  Please be aware that there are no toilet facilities on the site. We will provide water for washing hands if we can.

At these volunteer sessions we look after the trees and check what needs to be done. For each season we will check the health of the trees, attend to any pests and diseases, and make the orchard look as beautiful as possible. It’s vital work to keep the orchard going and we rely on our volunteers to look after these trees and keep the site special.

We are a community, volunteer-led project with no paid staff so we really appreciate all the help we can get – your involvement is what keeps this project going. If you would like to get involved there are many opportunities for supporting the orchard, having fun, learning more and improving your skills along the way.
You can:
Help to organise and run events and activities, working with other volunteers on site and in local venues.
Help with the administration of the Project.
Get involved with practical, on-site gardening. Not just the trees – the site supports a wide range of plants, shrubs and grasses as well.
Contribute any skills you may have – we can make good use of specialisms such as art, basketry, pruning and grafting, storytelling, marketing or computer skills.

We look forward to seeing you at the Orchard.
